Dassie or Rock Hyrax (Procavia capensis) is known as a Rock Rabbit in South Africa [Dassie in the Afrikaans language - pronounced 'dussie']. It belongs to the order Hyracoidea and the Family Procaviidae, and has short, rather rat-like ears; it is phylogenetically* close to the elephant.

*In biology, phylogenetics is the study of evolutionary relatedness among various groups of organisms (e.g., species, populations).

I wonder if Disney has created a cartoon character from a hyrax yet. . . :)
